Over many years racial profiling has been a huge issue that has affected many peoples lives. Racial Profiling isnt necessary, nobody can tell by the way someone looks or dresses that they are a about to steal something from a store or if they are rich or not. You may be talking to the richest man in the world and think he is homeless based off of your expectations of what you believe successful people should wear. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Racial Discrimination is Not Necessary" essay for you Create order An example of racial profiling is when an officer of law targets an individual not on their behavior, but rather their personal characteristics, such as race, ethnicity, national origin and religion. Cites have proven that Hispanics, Mexicans, and Latin Americans do not only face discrimination on the roadways but also in areas of immigration law enforcement due to past incidents in America with people of their ethnicity. In Tim Soutphommasanes article Stopping racism is everyones responsibility he says Its not just about racial superiority. Racism refers to prejudice, discrimination or hatred directed at someone because of their race. It is something that creates disadvantages for some, and confers privileges on to others. White people dont know the background of colored peoples lives, for they may have been been mentally abused or even beaten in their past for being the race they are and even the smallest racial things they do or say could put all that pain right back on them which could create bad habits or a lack of self-care. Lyrics from songs can show how a person feels and it can let out how the person feels, whether or not they are depressed or not, whats going on in their lives, etc. An example from an article of a musician showing his feelings is a famous rapper named Tupac Shakur. One of his most famous songs, Changes, shows his perspective on the way the world was, which still is. In the first two lines of his song I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself is life worth living should I blast myself? Tupac Shakur showed his emotions and thoughts of suicide due to the way the world he lived in was which was a very dark time in his life. Both these quotes one from 30 years ago and one a few years ago have showed that not much has changed over the years because colored people still feel the same way which can lead to depression and many disadvantages. Racial discrimination is a very serious problem that people face in their everyday lives. People do discriminate others which their actions may not be intentional but due to their lack of caring and understanding not even realize they are discriminating the person at all. In the article Jim Crow Policing by Bob Herbert he says People going about their daily business, bothering no one, are menaced out if the blue by the police, forced to spread themselves faced down in the street, or plaster themselves against a wall, or bend over the hood of a car, to be searched. A lot of police officers are very stereotypical on colored people and feel the need to suspect them even if theyre just wearing shorts with sandals, basically saying that you look like a criminal because you are colored and wearing what a normal non-colored person would wear. Not only do these police officers disrespect these people, but they are violating their time and privacy. Just because colored people in the past had a high crime rate doesnt mean all colored people are criminals and it is disgusting that many people think like that. White racist men and women need to recognize that they are no different than colored people. The color of ones skin does not define who they are, their actions do. A colored woman named Hermeisha Robinson, from Missouri applied for a customer service position at a company called Mentality Health through a listing from job listing site Indeed.com. After submitting her application, Robinson received an emailed response, purporting to be from a company employee, that stated: Thank you for your interest in careers at Mantality Health. Unfortunately, we do not consider candidates that have suggestive ghetto names. The company claims a hacker sent the email but it doesnt change the fact that it was sent. How would you feel if this same scenario happened to you? Wouldnt you also think that it is very disrespectful and take action about this situation that happened to you or would you not care and let it go by? The sad thing is many people do let it go by and not take action because they dont think it is important or theyre just used to it. Nobody deserves to be treated the way Hermeisha Robinson was treated and you need to fight against racism to help prevent something like this from happening again. Racial discrimination is not necessary and does not need to be used in any situation. Discrimination has affected many peoples lives and it has made them think down and be ashamed of themselves for being colored. People can only handle so much before they burst and if a racist white man keeps telling a colored man hes worthless and a bad person, then one day he will potentially break and become what that racist white man was telling him.
